A man who just robbed passengers of an FX taxi was wounded and arrested by police last Tuesday after his escape route, which he had ordered the driver to take, led him directly to a police station.
Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan, Quezon City police director, quoting police reports, said at least two other persons, including the driver, were wounded when the suspect, identified as Richard Son, traded shots with policemen, who were on standby at the Galas police station.
Police said the suspect earlier boarded a Project 6-bound Paiso FX taxi with plate number PVA 419 and announced the robbery as soon the vehicle took the U-turn slot along Quezon Avenue near the old Delta Theater.
After divesting six passengers of their cell phones and cash, the suspect directed the driver to proceed toward Galas area, where he apparently planned to escape.
However, the directions he gave led them to the Galas police station.
Sensing the driver was taking him straight to the cops, the suspect shot him in the back and jumped out of the vehicle.
Policemen in the area responded and shoot out with the suspect, who was hit in the stomach.
A bystander was wounded in the cross fire.
Radovan said police rushed the suspect, the driver and the bystander to the Quezon City General Hospital.
"The driver brought the suspect right to the police precinct," Radovan said.
He said police recovered the cell phones and cash taken from six passengers.
