QC pushed as RP’s housing capital

-
The Committee on Subdivision, Housing and Real Estate of the Quezon City council yesterday vowed to make the locality the housing capital of the country by sustaining the aggressive shelter programs of the city.

Quezon City has already alloted a total of 13,495 lots covering a land area of 123 hectares for socialized and high-end housing, according to Councilor Winston ‘Winnie’ Castelo, who is the committee chairman.

Castelo said the housing projects benefited around 60,000 Quezon City residents, majority of whom are poor families who acquired their house and lots through the community mortgage program.

"We intend to sustain the current housing trend in the city in response to government’s call to fight homelessness in the country," Castelo, who also authored the ordinance creating the national government center for West and East Side housing project in Commonwealth Avenue, said.
