KTV gunman sends surrender feelers

-
The gunman in the killing of six drivers inside a KTV bar in San Juan last July 9 has sent surrender feelers, police said yesterday.

San Juan police chief Superintendent Rodelio Jocson said the mother of suspect Henry Fong has been coordinating with him over fears of her son’s safety.

"Nangangamba ang nanay na baka may mangyaring masama sa anak niya habang nagtatago ito. Gusto rin niya na walang mangyayari sa anak niya habang nakakulong ito," Jocson said.

He said the mother, Judy Andrade Cuales, has been accompanied by chairman Jerry Solis of Barangay Batis whenever she shows up to discuss Fong’s surrender.

The suspect has been tagged as the man who shot dead Christopher Caedo, 35; Felix Alday, 28; Vladimer Bona, 35; Mario Pastorpili, 42; Ronald Macalad, 27, and Crispen Tambiolan, 40.

Jocson said Fong signified his plan to surrender the last time he talked with Solis over the phone. "Chairman Solis is now waiting for Fong to contact him again so they can work out the mechanics of his surrender," said Jocson.

Despite the development, Jocson continues to dispatch teams of police operatives to arrest Fong, saying the surrender feelers might only be a ploy to "ease the heat and allow him to move freely in his escape."

The San Juan police had filed multiple murder and frustrated homicide charges against Fong before the Rizal provincial prosecutor’s office. Non Alquitran
