Fire razes fastfood warehouse in Pasig

-
An eight-and-a-half hour fire hit a two-storey warehouse of a fastfood chain in Pasig City yesterday, destroying property estimated at P10 million.

Nobody was hurt in the fire that started at the ground floor of a warehouse belonging to a commissary of the Kenny Rogers chain of restaurants located at 15 Brixton street in Barangay Kapitolyo at about 12:30 a.m.

Fire prober FO1 Salvador Norberte Jr. said the fire was preceded by a short-circuit at a section of the warehouse.

"Nagkaroon ng
short circuit tapos biglang nagka-apoy," Norberte said.

He said night shift workers at the warehouse tried to put out the blaze, but failed.

"Biglang lumaki ang sunog kaya’t hindi naagapan ng mga empleado. Mga
chemicals at chicken stock ang karamihan sa nasunog," said Norberte.

The fire reached the fifth alarm.

Firefighters from Pasig City and neighboring towns and cities arrived and battled the blaze until it was declared under control at 9 a.m.

Norberte said firefighters prevented the fire from reaching other establishments and private residences. — Non Alquitran
