Video karera machines destroyed in Muntinlupa

As part of its intensified campaign against all forms of illegal gambling and piracy, the Muntinlupa City government has destroyed 17 video karera machines and some 1,000 pirated video compact discs (VCDs).

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and the city police chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino led the destruction of the seized items following the flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds the other day.

Muntinlupa policemen and personnel of the Public Order and Safety Office confiscated 17 video karera machines in operations conducted from July 1 to 8 with the help of an informant.

The units were seized in Bagong Paraiso, Barangay Bayanan; West Kabulusan, Barangay Cupang; Purok 1 and 2 in Barangay Sucat; Barangay Bisaya and Bagong Silang, Alabang; and Lakeview 1 and 2 in Barangay Putatan.

On the other hand, the pirated pornographic VCDs were confiscated in Alabang from sidewalk vendors, who sell their wares at night.

Espino said they also seized several fruit game units.

He said the seized items were just recently purchased by its operators, who now being hunted by police.

Espino also disclosed that they have arrested three suspects engaged in illegal cockfights last Sunday at Sitio Pagkakaisa in Barangay Sucat.

The suspects were identified as Tito Muyco Jr. 29; Espiridion Tiloy, 29; and Johnny Boy Comboy, 28, all residents of Sitio Pagkakaisa, Sucat.

Seized from the three suspects were cash bets and two fighting cocks. — Rhodina Viillanueva
