Taguig school gets new principal

A new principal has finally been assigned to the Taguig National High School (TNHS) following a series of protests staged by faculty members and students against their former head, whom they accused of being "abusive and inefficient."
Bernadette Bautista, faculty president, said Dr. Judito Camacho is now the acting principal of the TNHS based on a recent order issued by Department of Education officer-in-charge Fe Hidalgo upon the recommendation of Undersecretary Franklin Sunga.
She noted that the order was served by Dr. Amancio Villamejor, the OIC of the citys Division of Schools.
Meanwhile, Eleanor Abisado, the former TNHS principal, though detailed at the DepEd office, is reportedly on "floating status" and is currently assisting the citys Division of Schools superintendent."
"This simply means that DepEd officials who acted on our complaint, found merits on the issues we raised against her," Bautista said.
A month ago, more than 100 teachers, students, and parents staged a protest-rally to demand Abisados ouster.
They accused Abisado of illegally collecting fees from students and called her abusive and inefficient. The protesters claimed the school head was not capable of running an academic institution.
"We from the education sector should be the ones to exemplify professionalism and integrity. If the students deserve quality teachers, we teachers deserve a quality principal," Bautista said.
She and her co-teachers also held a prayer-vigil in front of the school located in Barangay Lower Bicutan to reiterate their demand for Abisado to step down from her post.
Abisado has been formally charged before the DepEd for alleged violation of Reasonable Office Rules as well as Unauthorized Collection of Contributions from School Children based on a complaint filed by Nixon Faderog, TNHS-Parents and Teachers Association president.
Abisado denied the allegations, calling "baseless."
