Robbers hit bus on NLEX

Police are hot on the trail of at least six men who robbed passengers inside a bus last Saturday afternoon on North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela City.
A Baliwag Transit bus with body number 9530 (CVS-430), was traveling on the NLEX in Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City en route to Hagonoy in Bulacan, when six men armed with handguns and knives, announced a heist at around 5:30 p.m.
Gerardo Cruz, 40, the bus driver, told the police that one of the robbers, who was seated right behind him, was armed with a caliber .38 revolver. The five others, also armed with handguns and bladed weapons, were spread out inside the vehicle.
Bus conductor Isagani Itom, 36, said the suspects got on the bus at a terminal in Cubao, Quezon City.
Upon reaching the NLEX in Barangay Malinta, the group announced a holdup and divested some 50 passengers of cash, cell phones and other belongings.
The suspects also took the bus earnings amounting to P5,000.
Upon reaching Barangay Duhat in Bocaue, Bulacan, the suspects ordered the bus driver to stop and fled on foot.
Cruz and his conductor, along with some of the passengers, reported the incident to the Valenzuela City police station.
Superintendent Billy Beltran, city police chief, has coordinated with the Bulacan police for the identification and arrest of the suspects.
