QC police hot on trail of Albano killers

- Perseus Echeminada -
Quezon City police homicide detectives and intellegence operatives who are working round the clock to solve the kiling of Isabela town mayor Delifinito Albano are hot on the trail of masked gunmen who left a trail of clues in the crime scene, a top police official said yesterday.

A police source said the investigation is now focused on arresting the killers who were already identified.

Superintendent Roger James Brillantes, chief of the District Intelligence and Investigation Division, said Quezon City police chief Director Nicasio Radovan Jr. will make the official announcement as soon as the suspects are arrested, "Its just a matter of time," he said.

Radovan ealier said that among the theories being pursued by investigators are related to business and politics. He also said the killers were not professional assassins considering the amount of bullet spent to hit the target.

Among the vital clues to the identity of the suspects in Albano’s slay is the last call recieved by the mayor, which prompted him to leave his house in Greenhills, San Juan without his bodyguards to proceed to Quezon City where he was ambushed.

Scene of the Crime operatives who processed the crime scene recovered several empty shells of a 9 mm and an empty magazine of a MP5 machine pistol left by one of the killers who brazenly shot Albano as he sough refuge at a nearby restaurant.

The police was also able to get the license plate of the get-away vehicle, which reportedly belong to a another vehicle stolen a few hours before Albano was ambushed.
