Belmonte commends QCPD for solving high-profile crimes

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. commended yesterday the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for the quick solution of high-profile cases, including the arrest of the principal suspect in the killing and mutilation of a 26-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) and the neutralization of carjackers operating in the city.

"Congratulation for a job well done, your efforts have proven that Quezon City is no longer the carnapping capital in the city," Belmonte told QCPD director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan during yesterday’s staff executive meeting held at the Amoranto Hall.

Radovan earlier reported the early solution to the killing of Rosario Saren, who was killed by suspect Grace Abuyador Cuba. Saren’s parts were stuffed inside a suitcase and left behind in a taxi by the suspect, who boarded a domestic flight to Dumaguete City.

The QCPD chief said that hours after the taxi driver reported his gruesome find, detectives were able to identify the suspect with the help of the driver, who led officers to Cuba’s rented apartment in Project 8.

The suspect was forced to surrender in Tagbilaran City after her name was flashed in the news. Tagbilaran Mayor Dan Lim turned her over to the QCPD.

Bernardo Saren, the father of the victim said her daughter was bringing with her a huge amount of cash when she arrived from Taiwan last week. The suspect allegedly fetched the suspect at the airport before killing her.

Apart from the chop-chop case, police were also able to neutralize members of a five-man carjacking syndicate that preyed on motorists in Quezon City.

Radovan said the suspects were killed in an encounter last week along Tomas Morato.
