‘Night Watch’ cops arrest 4 in Camanava

- Pete Laude -
Northern Police District (NPD) Night Watch officers arrested four young robbery suspects operating in Malabon and Caloocan during two separate operations over the weekend.

NPD director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil said two minors, one identified only as Jason, a resident of Valenzuela City, and a certain Mark, of Caloocan City, both 16, were arrested at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday.

Night Watch officers, led by SPO2 Virgilio Luciano and SPO2 Severino Santos, conducted follow-up operations on EDSA corner E. Benin street in Monumento based on a complaint of 27-year-old robbery victim Rena Ruth Aguilar.

Aguilar, a resident of Caloocan City, told police she was walking along EDSA when three young men, all armed with bladed weapons, divested her of her mobile phone worth P12,000.

The suspects fled on foot toward E. Benin street.

Aguilar sought the assistance of the Night Watch officers who searched for the suspects in the area, resulting in the arrest of the two minors.

Police, however, failed to recover Aguilar’s cell phone.

In Malabon City last Saturday, Night Watch officers, led by PO2 Armando Sandil, arrested robbery suspects Ringo Bautista, 18, a resident of Barangay Potrero, and a certain Roegen, 16, also of Barangay Potrero.

Malabon City police chief Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra said the young suspects robbed a passenger jeepney at the corner of McArthur Highway and University Avenue in Barangay Potrero at around 3:50 a.m.

One of their victims, Princess Elesignez, 20, a resident of Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City, tagged the two as the ones who held them up.
