Has the militarys anti-coup unit, the National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM) already outlived its purpose that would be dissolved soon?
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Generoso Senga was non-committal in his answer on what lies ahead for the unit.
"It all depends on the (prevailing security) situation," Sengas said.
Talks of NCRCOMs impending disolution was triggered by the non-appointment of a permanent commander of the anti-coup military unit following the retirement of its chief, Lt. Gen. Allan Cabalquinto last month.
At present, Brig. Gen. Salvador Penaflor, Cabalquintos deputy, is running in acting capacity the unit that requires a three-star general to command.
"The organization is as dynamic as the situation develops," Senga said in response to media questions.
