The office under Engr. Rose Bantog has implemented flood control and maintenance program during the summer months.
Aguilar said the engineering department should double its effort to prevent floods when rains start to become frequent.
She noted that Las Piñas City was spared from floods during heavy rains brought by Typhoon Caloy, particularly in areas that used to be flood-prone, because of the preparations made by the engineering division.
"We have, in fact, completed most of the desilting of clogged waterways, including the relocation of squatter families which have encroached portions of the Las Piñas River," Bantog said.
Aguilar also instructed the City Disaster Coordinating Council to draw up a disaster-preparedness plan which they will adopt once typhoons hit the country again. Rhodina Villanueva
