The robbery suspect who escaped from his police escorts last Sunday night and caused the sacking of the latters commander was recaptured by North Caloocan police operatives Monday afternoon in Caloocan City.
Northern Police District (NPD) director chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil yesterday announced the recapture of Alvin Quiambao alias "Lupin" of Avocado St., Cristina Homes, Camarin, Caloocan City and suspect in the robbery perpetrated against a former OFW also his neighbor, last Sunday. He was arrested together with pal, Alito Ligot, now detained at the Caloocan North Extension Office in Camarin.
The suspect escaped from his police escorts after allegedly seeking permission to answer the call of nature.
Quiambao, who also uses the alias "Alvin Arcaina," was re-arrested by a team of North Caloocan operatives led by SPO3 Reynaldo Listangco, including PO3s Bernard Salvosa, Noel Adviento, Martin Enteria and PO2 Nelson Dapacpac at the house of Quiambaos girlfriend, Maricar, in Cristina Homes.
Quiambao attempted to escape again from the lawmen but was shot in the right foot by Listangco. The suspect was taken to the Dr. Jose Rodriguez Hospital in Tala for treatment.
Superintendent Jimili Macaraeg, District Intelligence and Investigation Division (DIID) chief, yesterday told The STAR Quiambao was turned over to the custody of Substation 4 for disposition.
Macaraeg said Quiambao also has a pending arrest warrant issued by Caloocan RTC Branch 172 Judge Myrna Dimaranan-Viday for non-appearance in a promulgation of a case convicting him for an unspecified crime in July 2004.
Superintendent Joselito Pajarillaga, Caloocan North Extension Office commander, who was ordered relieved by Bataoil under the principle of command responsibility for Quiambaos earlier escape, has been replaced by his deputy, Superintendent Mario Dapilloza, as officer-in-charge.
An administrative case hangs on the head of Pajarillaga and the police guards, PO2s Allan Pena and Joel Casin for alleged negligence.
Macaraeg said a thorough investigation ordered by Bataoil is being undertaken by his office. Jerry Botial, Zsarina Salazar
