A policeman was wounded when he shot it out with a gang that tried to rob him last Monday evening in Las Piñas City.
Senior Inspector Gary Jaramillo Garen, chief of the Las Piñas Police Anti-Carnapping (Ancar) Unit, identified the wounded lawman as Police Officer 2 Lawton Liangna.
Initial investigation showed that around 10:40 p.m., Liangna and his cousin were riding a motorcycle on Golden Haven, C-5 Extension Road at the boundary of Barangay Manuyo Uno in Las Piñas City and Sucat, Parañaque, when four men blocked their path and declared a holdup.
As the officer was pulling out his service firearm, one of the suspects opened fire.
Liangna was hit in the buttocks, but was still able to fire three shots at the robbers. They fled in different directions.
