Operatives of the Parañaque police have arrested members of a syndicate allegedly engaged in massive drug trafficking, gun running and robbery in the city.

Police Inspector Dominador Bartolazo, action officer of the Station Anti-Illegal Drug-Special Operation Task Force, identified the members of the "Omeng Gang" as Roman Abari alias Omeng, 39, a gun smith machinist and leader of the group; Carlos Salazar, alias Caloy, 41, of Barangay Don Galo; Romeo Escanillas, alias Dodong, 33, of Barangay Tambo; Erwin Vicedo, 38, of Barangay Tambo; and Janno Aquino, 18, of Barangay Don Galo.

Prior to the arrest, a surveillance was conducted after an asset provided information that Abari and his cohorts were sighted at their hideout, which turned out to be Abari’s residence.

Police then conducted a buy-bust operation on April 12 in Abari’s house, where the five suspects were arrested.

During interrogation, Abari told police probers that one member of his group, remained in hiding.

He claimed Marlon Cervantes who manages a trucking firm, is the supplier of shabu.

Cervantes was also keeping assorted firearms at his junkshop located at Palanyag, Barangay San Dionisio.

Superintendent Ronald Estilles, Parañaque police chief, ordered Bartolazo to conduct follow-up operations.

Cervantes was collared by police last Monday at around 5:30 p.m.

Seized from the group were five plastic sachets of shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, one Colt MK IV Series 80 Cup with one magazine and ammunition, one caliber 9mm with one magazine and one homemade caliber .38 revolver.

Earlier, Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Garcia ordered Estilles to launch an all-out war against crime gangs, particularly those involved in drug trafficking activities in the city.
