QC to host 16th service caravan

- Perseus Echeminada -
The Quezon City government will host tomorrow the 16th Serbisyo Muna Caravan at the Batasan Hills National High School grounds.

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said President Arroyo will lead national government officials and heads of government agencies in the launching of the reach-out program, which includes medical and dental missions to 5,000 beneficiaries.

"This is the day when Malacañang, Quezon City Hall, your barangay, your police and your public medical service people are just one team — a caravan going to your community to serve you and your neighbor," Belmonte said.

The mayor has directed key departments and officers to coordinate with various government agencies, including the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., PhilHealth and the Social Security System.

The Serbisyo Muna caravan will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include the awarding of SSS cards, distribution of rice to day-care children and the issuance of licenses to operate for Tindahan Natin community stores.

Other events include the awarding of licenses to operate Botika ng Barangay outlets in 21 barangays and turnover of P25,000 worth of medicine.

Activities include a lecture on micro-lending and distribution of microfinance and information materials, seminars on energy safety practices, road ethics, distribution of vegetables seeds and processing of National Bureau of Investigation clearances through the "NBI on Wheels" project.

Metro police chief Director Vidal Querol will also present the keys of Serbsiyo Muna patrol vehicles to the Quezon City Police District.
