Ex-kagawad gunned down

Three still unidentified men gunned down a former kagawad of Barangay Rizal in Makati City yesterday.

The victim, identified as Edilmar Pantini, died from multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

Reports from the Makati City Police Department (MCPD) said the incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. along H. Santos street, Barangay Tejeros.

Witnesses said the victim had just alighted from his red Honda CRV with license plate XMP-768 when the suspects came toward him from different directions.

"One approached him while the other two came from behind. Then they just shot him," MCPD chief Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio said.

The victim, he said, died on the spot.

"We still don’t know what the motive behind the killing was. All we know is that he is a former barangay official," Valerio, who personally visited the crime scene, said.

According to him, the MCPD’s Homicide Division, headed by Senior Inspector Gary Reyes, will handle the probe.

"Our intelligence operatives will also conduct a probe to help get the suspects," Valerio said. – Michael Punongbayan
