The intensified Night Watch operations against robbery gangs in Malabon City continues to gain ground with the arrest of six suspects in three separate incidents over the weekend.

Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra, Malabon City police chief, said the latest to fall were Allan Ruiz, 28, and Romy Catalino, 21, both residents of Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City.

The suspects were arrested at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday after robbing a teacher, identified as Leah Buenaventura, 31, a resident of Sanciangco street, Barangay Tonsuya.

The victim was about to enter the gate of her house when the suspects, armed with handguns, divested her of her shoulder bag containing P2,000 in cash and a mobile phone.

The victim immediately sought the assistance of the Night Watch cops in the area. They conducted a follow-up operation resulting in the suspects’ arrest.

Recovered from the suspects’ were Buenaventura’s belongings and ammo for a 12-gauge shotgun.

At around 11:30 p.m. last Thursday, a Night Watch team led by PO2 Gilbert Bansil arrested Noel Tamayo, 36, and Christian Daz, 20, after the suspects robbed mall employee Raquel Magbanua, 22, a resident of Obando, Bulacan.

Magbanua was riding a passenger jeepney to Bulacan when two of her fellow passengers, armed with bladed weapons, announced a holdup.

As the suspects were about to flee, Magbanua screamed for help, which attracted the attention of Bansil’s team.

After a brief chase, the suspects were arrested.

The Night Watch officers also arrested at around 9:30 p.m. last Thursday two members of the Siete Bulabog Gang identified as Roberto Repalda, 18, and Arnold Borcelo, 18, both residents of Barangay Tugatog.

Shiela Marie Clarines, 28, a secretary of Convoy Marketing Corp. in Caloocan City, was walking along P. Aquino street in Barangay Tugatog, when held up by the suspects.
