Truck driver in QC mishap charged

-
Quezon City traffic investigators filed yesterday charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and serious physical injuries and damage to property charges against a truck driver, which figured in a vehicular accident that killed the son of former movie actor and Mandaluyong Councilor Darius Razon.

Police Inspector Alejandrito Tablazon, chief of the Quezon City traffic unit, said criminal charges have been filed at the Quezon City prosecutor’s office against Leones Siason, who surrendered to police the other day.

Police are now conducting follow-up investigation after a taxi driver showed up at the police headquarters, claiming that he was a witness to the accident.

In his account, the witness said he was on Araneta Avenue when he saw Siason’s truck overtake the Honda Civic being driven by Razon’s friend.

He said the car bumped the wheel of the truck causing it to swerve and slam into a concrete post.

The account of the witness contradicted the statement of the driver who claimed that it was the car that overtook him.

In Makati City, a woman was killed after being sideswiped by a northbound train of the Philippine National Railways Corp. (PNRC) last Thursday night.

The victim, believed to be a vagrant, died after sustaining serious head and body injuries.

Reports from the Makati Traffic Department said the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. at the PNRC railroad tracks in Barangay San Antonio.

SPO4 Oscar Alicando said witnesses saw the victim sitting near the train tracks. – Perseus Echeminada, Rhodina Villanueva
