- Katherine Adraneda -
The son of an actor-turned-politician was killed in a vehicular accident along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City early yesterday.

Denver Razon, son of Mandaluyong City councilor Darius Razon, was declared dead on arrival at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) Hospital after the car being driven by his friend was sideswiped by a trailer truck, sending it crashing into a concrete post and the steel gate of a restaurant along Araneta Avenue.

The driver of the car Marian Bustillos, 23, survived, but was taken to the Lourdes Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Quezon City District Traffic Enforcement Office at Camp Karingal said Bustillos’ blue Honda City (WAJ-920) was traveling on Araneta Avenue toward San Juan at around 1:36 a.m. when the accident took place.

As the Honda City neared Palanza street, it was sideswiped by a 10-wheeler truck, causing Bustillos to lose control of the wheel. The Honda City slammed into onto concrete electric post and a steel gate.

The driver of the 10-wheeler truck fled after the incident.

In Parañaque City, a delivery truck carrying cement rammed into the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) perimeter fence, caused traffic at the Merville area early yesterday.

The 18-wheeler truck rammed a portion of the 30-meter SLEX perimeter fence around 1:30 a.m. after its driver, 26-year-old Christian Reyes, fell asleep sleep on the wheel near Barangay Merville.

Senior Police Officer 1 Gerry Formales, team leader of the Traffic Management Group Detachment of SLEX, said the incident caused traffic to crawl for more than eight hours. – With Rhodina Villanueva
