Barangay chairmen laud lifting of 1017

A group of barangay chairmen in Manilas North and South Harbor who are all members of an organization called "Beyond 2004 Movement" yesterday thanked President Arroyo for lifting Presidential Proclamation No. 1017.
In a one-page manifesto, the group has expressed belief that the President has issued Proclamation 1017 "to ensure the safety of the state and all Filipinos and to build a strong republic."
The manifesto was entitled "Mabuhay PGMA."
The barangay chairmen also appealed to the people to stop moves destabilize the government.
The group vowed to stop any attempt to stop programs meant to uplift the livelihood of the poor and to fool the people into thinking that toppling the administration will serve them well.
Members of the Beyond 2004 Movement said they will continue to support and defend the Constitution under the Arroyo administration.
