Mandaluyong hospital certified first class by DOH

-
The Mandaluyong City Medical Center (MCMC) is now at par with the best hospitals in the country after the Department of Health (DOH) certified it as a tertiary infirmary.

MCMC director Dr. Alfredo Lo, said the center obtained the certification of DOH for tertiary level as it meets the licensing requirements provided by the agency.

Lo noted that MCMC passed the service capabilities required by DOH on administrative service, clinical service, nursing service, ancillary service and accredited training program.

"We can now compete with high-standard hospital now that we have acquired the certification of DOH. MCMC has been delivering tertiary service to the residents of Mandaluyong even without the official recognition," he said.

Lo attributed the certification of the medical center to the continuous support of Mandaluyong City Mayor Neptali Gonzales II in order to improve the facilities and equipment in MCMC to better service its constituency.

In 2005, Gonzales spent P63 million for the renovation of the main building of the MCMC, purchase of medical facilities and medicines. Some P38 million was allocated for the renovation, P15 million and P10 million for the purchase of medical facilities and medicines, respectively.

Since Gonzales assumed office in 2004, he allocated some P100 million for the improvement of the city’s health care provision.

"I am thankful to the DOH for recognizing the efforts of the city government in improving our health care services. I’ve been consistent that I want every citizen of the city to be healthy," Gonzales said.

The new MCMC boasts of a 130-bed capacity, with newly installed dialysis room, medical intensive care unit , pediatric ICU, neo-natal ICU, enhanced operating, labor and recovery rooms, surgical ward, and expanded out-patient department and other ancillary services.

Among the important additions to hospital amenities are new operating tables and lights, intensive care unit beds, anesthesia machine, incubator, hemo-dialysis machine, cardiac monitor, suction machines and pulse oximeters.

The newly renovated city hospital opened last Feb. 3.

Tertiary is the highest level given by the DOH to public and private hospitals to ensure that each delivers high-level of health care to the people.
