QC distributes stampede aid

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. led city officials the other day in distributing financial assistance to families of 11 city residents who died in the Ultra stampede in Pasig City.
Belmonte, assisted by department of social services development chief Teresa Mariano distributed P 10,000 cash as financial assistance to each of the families.
Mariano identified the residents who died as Enriquita Labaton, Edna Gonzales, Julina Eliene Aliocode Book, Felicidad de la Vega, Lolita Bergado, Julie Varcas, Teresita Sy, Ofelia Casapi, Helen Nebres, Prescila Barsaga and Aurora Soriano.
Of the 11 fatalities, six came from the second district, which has the largest concentration of urban poor communities, including Batasan and Payatas.
The mayor assured residents that the city government is ready to provide necessary assistance to those affected by disasters.
The mayor said that the city government would be extending financial and humanitarian assistance for the relief and rehabilitation of the victims of the mudslide in Barangay Guinsaugon in Southern Leyte.
The financial assistance of the city government will be coursed though the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) as provided for in a resolution approved by the City Council. Perseus Echiminada
