Performance to determine fate of 4 Camanava police chiefs

- Pete Laude -
The performance of the four chiefs of police of the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (Camanava) area would determine if they would stay in their respective posts.

Newly installed Northern Police District (NPD) director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil said in last week’s turn over ceremonies that he would personally evaluate the performance of each of the four police chiefs.

He said there would be no immediate reshuffling of the NPD’s officers and men but "he will keep an eye on them and evaluate their performance."

He warned the four police chiefs — Senior Superintendent Leo Garra of Caloocan City, Senior Superintendent Moises "Kamagong" Guevarra of Malabon City, Superintendent Genesis Tolejano of Navotas and Superintendent Billy Beltran of Valenzuela City — that he would hold them "personally responsible" for any breach of peace and order in their respective areas of responsibility.

"That includes all forms of illegal gambling," Bataoil said.

Bataoil, the former spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said that he wanted the NPD cops to live up to the "highest expectation" of the public and to work harder in crime prevention.

"Don’t wait for the crime to occur. I want more focus on crime prevention," Bataoil said.

He also urged the Camanava police chiefs to double efforts in their respective "Night Watch" projects by deploying more policemen to the streets.

Of the three cities and one municipality under the NPD’s jurisdiction, Caloocan City, particularly the northern side, is considered the most critical area.
