Three people, including two firefighters, were hurt as an hour-long fire gutted three townhouse units along Masaya street in UP Village, Diliman Quezon City, fire bureau officials said yesterday.
Chief Inspector Oscar Villegas, Quezon City fire marshal, identified the injured as Fire Officers 3 Flor Badane, Fire Officer 1 Lionel Lopez and houseowner Federico Gaviola, who suffered third degree burns.
Villegas said the fire broke out at 7:35 a.m.
"The firemen were trying to put out the fire when the roof they were standing on collapsed, sending them crashing to the ground," he said.
The two injured firefighters were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center.
"We are still trying to determine what caused the fire," Villegas said. Perseus Echeminada
