Rookie cop found dead in hotel room

Police are now investigating the death of a rookie officer, who apparently shot himself inside his condo-hotel suite in Makati City early yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Al Francis Camba, detailed at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of Cotabato City, was with a woman as he reportedly shot himself in the chest.

The rookie policeman checked in with two women at Room 1416 of the Prince Tower II located along De la Rosa street, Legaspi Village, Makati City at around 1 a.m.

A few minutes later one of the employees of the condo-hotel noticed one of the women leaving before hearing two gunshots coming from their room.

When employees entered the room, they found Camba with a gunshot wound on his chest. One of the women was still inside the room.

A Scene of the Crime Operations team recovered a 9 mm pistol and two empty shells inside the room.

Police invited the two women for questioning and both claimed that Camba, an acquaintance, accidentally shot himself.

Homicide investigators of the Makati City Police Department said they will dig deeper into the case to determine what really happened. – Michael Punongbayan
