3,876 get new jobs in Caloocan

-
Caloocan City now has 3,876 less unemployed among its residents following the holding of the 6th mega job fair sponsored by the city government the other day at the City Hall grounds on Mabini street.

City Mayor Enrico Echiverri said that the successful hirees were chosen from among several thousands seeking jobs in the fair organized by the Department of Urban, Social and Industrial Relations Services (DUSIRS) and the Labor and Industrial Relations Office (LIRO) of City Hall.

Some 112 companies took part in the job fair in an effort to assist the city government in providing decent jobs to the unemployed of Caloocan.

About 60 firms offered local employment while 12 companies were for overseas placements. Some 43 directly hired new personnel.

"It is far more important to give our unemployed a modest and decent job rather than extend them the usual doleouts. Doing it this way is giving them opportunity to be productive citizens of Caloocan," Echiverri said. – Jerry Botial
