Las Piñas to inspect warehouses

-
Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar has created a team to conduct a thorough inspection of all warehouses and factories that may pose a threat to life and property.

She also said the business permit of a chemical warehouse hit by fire the other day would not be renewed.

Fire razed a warehouse in TS Cruz Subdivision, Barangay Almanza Dos last Wednesday. The fire lasted almost five hours since drums of various chemicals were stored at the facility.

The mayor said she would also ask the homeowners’ association and barangay officials why Rich Chemical Enterprises was given a permit to operate despite being a subject of complaints by residents.

"No one will be spared from the investigation and I appeal to everyone to be responsible enough to ensure the safety of our people," Aguilar said.

A homeowners’ endorsement and barangay clearance are among the requirements in applying for a business permit inside a private subdivision.

It was found out that the owners applied for a business permit to operate as a trading company, but actually operated as chemical factory.

Rich Chemical Enterprises is still in the process of renewing its permit.
