Russian diplomat found dead in condo pool

Police are now investigating the death of a Russian diplomat, whose body was found floating in the swimming pool of a condominium on Ayala Avenue in Makati City last Sunday night.

A fellow tenant at the Makati Tuscany Condominium found the body of Gurgen Abertovich Balayan, 22, a Russian Embassy protocol officer at 7:15 p.m.

Balayan was renting a unit at the second floor of the condo.

Senior Inspector Gary Reyes, chief of the Makati Police Department’s Homicide Section, said they are investigating possible foul play.

Investigators are also checking the Russian national’s medical records.

Reyes said his men would coordinate with the Russian Embassy to learn more about Balayan.
