2 NBI units to arrest Jaylo

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officer-in-charge Nestor Mantaring has directed two units — the Special Task Force (STF) and the Special Action Unit (SAU) — to apprehend retired police captain Reynaldo Jaylo in compliance with the warrant of arrest issued by a Manila judge.

Mantaring ordered STF Regional Director Reynaldo Esmeralda and SAU Assistant Regional Director Vicente de Guzman III to serve the warrant on Jaylo, former chief of the defunct Presidential Anti-Illegal Recruitment Task Force (PAIRTF).

Manila Judge Nina Antonio-Valenzuela earlier issued a warrant against Jaylo on the grounds that he and his group had illegally detained six persons.

Apart from the NBI, copies of the warrant were disseminated to the Manila Police District (MPD) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Philippine National Police (CIDG-PNP).

Meanwhile, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) chief Rosalinda said Jaylo has neither reported for work nor communicated with her since Tuesday.

"He did not file a leave of absence and has failed to report for work or send his representative to the office in the the last three days," Baldoz said.

Baldoz also noted that POEA officials had been trying to contact Jaylo to get his side, but the efforts proved futile. – Evelyn Macairan, Mayen Jaymalin
