Pasay allocates P30M for new school building

Pasay City Mayor Wenceslao "Peewee" Trinidad announced yesterday the allocation of at least P30 million next year for the construction of a new building for the Pasay City Science High School.

"We have come up with this budget to ensure that our students get the best education possible. Let me assure everyone, especially the teachers, parents and the students themselves that education remains the top item in our six-point agenda. By next year, the new building will be able to accommodate more students," Trinidad said.

The Pasay City Science High School, located along Vergel Street, has 362 students. Ninety-five of them are freshmen, 95 are sophomores, 92 are juniors and 80 are seniors.

The students, who are graduates of primary schools located within the city, are considered the brightest among those in the city, excelling in mathematics and science. They are the ones with a weighted average of at least 85 percent when they graduated from the elementary level.

The new building, once constructed, would have four floors consisting of four classrooms each, for a total of 16 rooms.

The Pasay City Science High School, previously considered as an annex of the Pasay City West High School, was founded on June 16, 2002. It began operating as a school at the P. Burgos Elementary School.
