Two dead, 3 hurt in Marikina robbery

-
Two people were killed while three others were wounded, one of them critically, during successive robberies staged by three motorcycle-riding men last Wednesday in Marikina City.

Killed were Gaudencio Crusado, 51, and Francisco Almariego, 38, both residents of Barangay Concepcion II.

Crusado sustained a gunshot wound in the neck while Almariego was shot in different parts of the body. They died on the spot.

Wounded were Rosendo Cainoy, Geraldine Beatrix and Jaime Trinidad. Cainoy was shot in the neck while Beatrix and Trinidad were hit by stray bullets.

Police said Cainoy was listed in critical condition at a hospital.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan, Marikina City police chief, said Crusado and Cainoy were on their way home on board a Suzuki Carry van when the three suspects blocked their path along Lilac street in Barangay Concepcion II at 8:20 p.m.

At gunpoint, the trio announced a holdup.

Crusado, however, stepped on the gas to evade the suspects, who gave chase on board their motorcycle.

When they gained distance on the victims, the suspects opened fire.

Bystanders Beatrix and Trinidad were hit by stray bullets.

Police said the suspects escaped without taking anything from the victims.

Some 30 minutes later, the three motorcycle-riding men struck anew, shooting Almariego, who was waiting for a ride home on Everlasting street.

The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash from Almariego.

Gaerlan ordered a manhunt for the suspects. Non Alquitran
