Meat delivery thieves nabbed

- Jerry Botial -
The Valenzuela police arrested yesterday 10 members of a syndicate responsible for stealing great quantities of meat products manufactured by a popular Valenzuela-based meat processing firm.

Inspector Roderick Juan, city investigation chief, identified the suspects as Ramil Baclili, 39, driver; David Paulo, 21, checker; Guillermo Cinches, 33, trader; Jessie Gurobat, 32, driver; Jessie Siarot, 21, helper; Rodelio Badiang, 18, helper; Ricardo David, 25, helper; Mariano Catantan, 34 driver; Antonio Cacayuran, 25, driver; and Melvin Duque, 19, all residents of Valenzuela and workers of the complainant-firm.

Juan said the suspects’ arrest was prompted by a complaint of CDO-Foodshpere Inc. at 560 West Service Road, Paseo de Blas, Valenzuela City. Company officials reported that they had been receiving reports of lost deliveries recently particularly in Metro Manila.

Investigation showed the suspects’ modus operandi consisted of deliberately filching a number of meat products for delivery to clients from each delivery truck at certain times and selected places then making it appear that all these have been delivered before the trucks are sent back empty to the company yard.

The accumulated stolen goods are then packed into another delivery truck then shipped to the suspects’ clients, and sold at dirt cheap prices.

Based on this report, Juan and his men conducted a surveillance and pounced on the suspects.

The raiders caught the suspects at around 12:30 a.m. in the act of transferring the goods from a CDO refrigerated truck into a white van (KCD-153) and a blue Tamaraw FX (VEE-190) parked in front of Baclili’s house on Amapola street, Pahayang Pag-asa Subdivision, Maysan Road, Valenzuela City.

The suspects have been detained at the police jail pending the filing of appropriate charges.
