1 dead, 3 wounded in Navotas teeners’ clash

A teenager died while three others were wounded when two groups of youngsters clashed yesterday in Navotas.

Aldren Dacallos, 18, a resident of Barangay North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS), Navotas, died from gunshot wounds in the stomach while being rushed for treatment at the Tondo Medical Center.

Reports said that at around 1 a.m., Juanito Rarugan Jr., 18, of Marcelo Compound also in NBBS, engaged the victim’s group in a fistfight. As the group was outnumbered, Rarugan reportedly ran home to get a knife. His father, Juanito Sr., 40, allegedly came to his rescue and, armed with a homemade shotgun, shot Dacallos in the stomach. A stray bullet also hit Shirley Bunao, 42.

One of Dacallos’ companions attacked the elder Rarugan with a knife and stabbed him in the left chest. The fighting stopped when the elder Rarugan fell.

The Rarugans, Dacallos and Bunao were brought to the Tondo Medical Center for treatment but Dacallos died along the way.

Meanwhile, at around 4 a.m. yesterday, three armed men robbed a 24-hour burger store along C-4 Road in Barangay Bagong Bayan North, Navotas.

According to Jeffrey Tarog, 19, the store’s employee, the suspects pretended as customers and divested him of P5,000, representing the store’s earnings, his wristwatch and mobile phone.

The suspects reportedly fled aboard a passenger jeepney enroute to Divisoria after the robbery. Pete Laude
