Belmonte orders closure of 2 nightclubs

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. ordered yesterday the indefinite closure of two nightclubs on Quezon Avenue for continuing to stage lewd shows in defiance of an earlier closure order.
Bureau of Permit and License Office (BPLO) inspectors Voltaire Padilla and Jose Caluag, assisted by Quezon City Hall police detachment operatives padlocked the Mystique Disco Theater & KTV and the Stardust KTV.
Caluag said the operators of Mystique would be charged in court for defying an earlier closure order issued by the mayor and for violating an ordinance against the staging of lewd shows.
"We will be filing the charges next week against operators of Mystique," Caluag told The STAR.
The same applied to Stardust, which had been operating discreetly despite a closure order issued two days ago.
But unlike Mystique, which broke the closure seal at the main entrance, operators of Stardust used the backdoor as entrance for their customers.
At least two cars sped away from the Stardust parking area as police and BPLO operatives approached the establishment.
The city government has intensified its campaign against lewd shows at popular nightspots in the city.
