Airbus makes emergency landing at NAIA

An Emirates Air flight from Dubai, carrying 267 passengers and a crew of 14, made an emergency landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) due to a problem with its landing gear.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) dispatched four firetrucks and two ambulances to respond to the distress call made by Flight EK 332 pilot Capt. Paul Bryan Murray Jr. to the air control tower. He asking for emergency landing assistance at around 3 p.m.

The Airbus 330-200 was able to land safely, but stalled seconds after touchdown at around 4:10 p.m. as it was trying to taxi on Taxiway 06.

A towtruck from Dnata Air responded to the emergency alarm and towed the aircraft to Gate 5, preventing it from obstructing the runway and disrupting incoming international flights.

Engineer Octavio "Bing" Lina, MIAA assistant general manager for operations, said no one was hurt in the incident.
