Parañaque mayor vows to work harder for a more progressive city

Parañaque Mayor Jun Bernabe, after successfully defending his mandate from former Mayor Pablo Olivares before the Commission on Elections (Comelec), vowed to give his constituents a better and brighter Parañaque City.
In an interview with The Star, he said he is inspired to work even harder to build a first class locality where residents receive the best services.
"The Comelecs decision to junk the poll protest questioning my victory in the May 2004 elections gives me strength," Bernabe said.
"My constituents can rest assured that they have a mayor of the people, by the people and for the people who will work harder and harder to make Parañaque City shine," he added.
Comelec dismissed Olivares case and upheld Bernabes mandate as the duly-elected local chief executive of the city.
Olivares filed a poll protest shortly after Bernabe was declared the winner in the May 2004 elections.
Bernabe said it is now time to move forward as he is committed to bring about "a beautiful, peaceful, and progressive Parañaque City" through infrastructure projects like new roads, road improvements, lighting, expansion of the Parañaque Community Hospital (PCH), and the building of more public school buildings.
"The people of Parañaque can rest assured that I will give them what is due them and more. With their help, this city will fly high," Bernabe said. Michael Punongbayan
