A 50-year-old man was seriously hurt after he apparently jumped onto the tracks of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train yesterday at the Monumento terminal in Caloocan City.
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) identified the victim as Chito Fuentes, a resident of Valenzuela.
Fuentes was rushed to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila for treatment of injuries, said Jinky Giorgio of the LRTAs Public Relations Office.
The LRTA said the incident happened at around 2:30 p.m.
Witnesses said Fuentes suddenly jumped onto the tracks as a train was approaching.
"Nobody pushed him. No one was even standing near the man," Giorgio said.
She said it was fortunate the approaching train was able to stop right away.
