The Northern Police Districts anti-crime drive in the cities of Malabon and Caloocan before dawn yesterday resulted in the apprehension of at least 60 individuals, some of whom are facing murder charges while others were nabbed for violation of local ordinances.
"Its a special operation aimed mainly on persons with arrest warrants," NPD director Chief Superintendent Raul Gonzales told The STAR.
Gonzales said that of a total of 23 persons collared in Bgy. Longos in Malabon City, two were wanted for murder while four were drug offenders.
Those with arrest warrants were identified as Ivan Magmayo and Roger Tan while the drug offenders were identified as Michael Manangan, Eleno Balbino, Angelito Manangan and Larry Tolentino.
Others were nabbed for violation of local ordinances such as vagrancy, drinking on the streets, and roaming around the neighborhood without shirt, Gonzales said.
In Caloocan City, at least 37 individuals were busted. Of this, eight have warrants of arrest while others were apprehended for violation of city ordinances.
At around 4 a.m., the NPD crack team, led by Gonzales, in cooperation with Malabon City police led by Superintendent Moises Guevarra and Senior Superintendent Leo Garra of the Caloocan City police, conducted a simultaneous operation.
