A man was arrested and beaten black and blue by angry residents after he fell from an electric post while trying to install an illegal connection last Tuesday night in Navotas.
Police identified the suspect as Rodolfo Mangali, 39, an electrician, and resident of Kadiwa street in Barangay San Roque.
According to PO3 Roberto Balais, Mangali climbed an electric post on Wawa street in Barangay Tangos to install an illegal connection at around 10:30 p.m.
The connection, however, triggered a short-circuit and gave the suspect a mild shock, causing him to lose his balance and fall.
His handiwork also caused a power outage in the area, prompting angry residents to rush to scene. They then beat up Mangali.
Barangay watchmen intervened and brought the suspect to the Tondo Medical Center. He was later transferred to the Jose Reyes Hospital where he remains under observation. Pete Laude
