Government now using gas-saving gadget

With President Arroyo’s directive to save petroleum consumption due to the looming oil crisis, several government agencies have installed gas-saving devices on their service vehicles to reduce expenses on fuels.

Key government agencies like the Department of Justice and Department of Agriculture as well as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have begun using the Khaos Super Turbo Charger, a gas-saving device invented by Filipino Pablo Planas in 1973.

NAIA has installed the product in 30 of their service vehicles to reduce fuel consumption and raise budget savings. The DA has installed them in 20 of their service vehicles.

The Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA), on the other hand, has purchased 12 units early this year.

Isko Catibayan, vice president for business development of Invention Haus International, said the government offices that are now using Khaos have proven that they can save 15 to 50 percent on fuel consumption of their service vehicles.

"The use of Khaos takes part in the Philippine energy conservation endeavor amid increase of prices of petroleum products. We aim to give solution to world pollution and oil price increase," Catibayan said.

Other government agencies now pilot testing the gas-saving gadget include the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the local governments of Quezon City and Marikina.
