Alarmed by the possible outbreak of dengue in her district, Quezon City Rep. Nanette Castelo Daza (District 4) gave P1 million from her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to the city government for the purchase of chemicals used in fumigation as well as to fund a preventive information campaign.
Daza pointed out that there were 44 reported cases of dengue in San Roque 2 of Barangay Pag-asa, resulting in 11 deaths. The barangay borders depressed areas in PZBG Compound in Barangay Central and NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan and others in her district.
The congresswoman stressed that confronting the situation through fumigation and a preventive information campaign will not only greatly address the situation, but more importantly, "generate public awareness and cooperation among the residents."
