Health services expanded for Caloocan North barangays

-
Residents of 15 barangays in Caloocan North will be receiving additional health services and health support facilities following the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between Caloocan City Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri and a non-government organization.

Echiverri said it was fortunate that the barangays in the city were chosen as recipients of the project entitled "Expansion of Health Services and Health Support Facilities for North Caloocan City Project."

He said the project aims to assist the city government through its health department to address the problem of high morbidity and mortality rates of common communicable and infectious diseases such as bronchitis, influenza, diarrhea, primary complex and tuberculosis.

He said the project, which have a duration of three years, began in Feb. 1, 2005 in four barangays and are set to extend to 11 more barangays and complete the project until January 31, 2008.

Among those who signed the MOA were Antonio Imperial, executive director of Culion Foundation; Dra. Raquel So-Sayo, head of City Health Department; Dra. Elizabeth Manalo, superintendent, Division of City Schools.

"Each one of us who signed the MOA ay mayroong responsibility or role. Sana ay religiously magawa natin ang ating role para ma-address ang health services at pangangailangan ng ating mga barangay," he said.

For his part, Imperial gave his assurance that they will start disbursing funds for the implementation of the different proponent project once the signatures of the stakeholders are completed.

The project is aimed at improving the health condition of the urban poor communities in the said barangays.
