The warning was aired over the weekend as Aguilar directed chief Senior Inspector Erma Marquez, Las Piñas City Traffic Enforcement Unit chief, not to spare anyone, particularly abusive PUV drivers who do not observe the designated loading and unloading areas along the Alabang-Zapote road in compliance with the city’s new traffic code.
Disciplinary action will also be imposed against pedestrians who ignore traffic signs and traffic enforcers when crossing major roads.
"I am appealing to everyone to cooperate with us in our effort to promote an efficient, comfortable, safe and smooth traffic system in the city," Aguilar said.
The new order is in line with the implementation of the City Traffic Code, which is aimed at improving the traffic flow along Alabang-Zapote Road.
In time for the school opening this year, four pedestrian overpasses with escalators, located along the intersection of Alabang-Zapote Road and Zapote, in front of Fernando’s, Manila Times Village and Marcos Alvarez Avenue, were constructed.
Marquez reported that obstruction and reckless driving were the two most common vilations of drivers in the past two months. But this time, erring motorists will be slapped with stiffer penalties.
