Gov’t agents eye Taiwanese drug lord

Anti-narcotics agents are hot on the trail of a Taiwanese believed to be behind the operations of three storerooms, which yielded P150 million worth of shabu and raw materials during a raid last Friday in Quezon City.

Chief drug buster Deputy Director General Ricardo de Leon said the name of the Taiwanese surfaced during tactical interrogation of the six Chinese nationals arrested in one of the storerooms located along Rest Haven St., in Baler, Quezon City.

"The six Chinese nationals revealed that their boss is a Taiwanese and my men are now scouring Metro Manila and the provinces to have him arrested," said De Leon, who heads the police Anti-Ilegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF).

But De Leon refused to divulge the name of the Taiwanese for fear of jeopardizing ongoing follow-up operations. But the Bureau of Immigration was already alerted to prevent the Taiwanese from leaving the country.

De Leon said a team headed by Senior Superintendent Rogelio Damazo, AIDSOTF intelligence chief, is now on the finishing touches of their tactical interrogation of Oh Wen Che, 30; Wo Chad Sin, 39; Chong Men Cheng, 30; Hong Jae Chen, 31; Ho Jin Chen, 35, and Henry Tan Ang, 35.

The six Chinese nationals were detained at the AIDSOTF headquarters in Camp Crame.

De Leon pointed out that the seizure on Friday of 65 kilos of shabu and 500 kilos of ephedrine was a result of a two-month surveillance by the AIDSOTF Special Operations Group (SOG) headed by Superintendent Jojo Acierto.

Acierto traced the Taiwanese storerooms at 12-B Liwayway St., and 19-C Bulletin St., both in West Triangle, Baler, Quezon City.
