QC government, St. Luke’s to provide free medical services to poor

- Perseus Echeminada -
The Quezon City government and the St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) have signed a memorandum of agreement to provide poor residents of the city with free medical services and access to facilities of the hospital.

Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and SLMC president and CEO Jose Ledesma signed the agreement dubbed as the "QC Sagip Buhay Free Medical Care," which was among the highlights of the observance of National Disability and Rehabilitation Week in the city.

Belmonte said the city government is proud and fortunate to have SLMC as one of its vital resources and partners in delivering basic health services to its residents.

"In Quezon City, nobody, particularly the poor and ordinary folks, must be left behind, everyone is part of the city’s progress and development ," Belmonte said.

Ledesma said the hospital is likewise proud to be associated with the city government and vowed to continue working for its communities.

Under the agreement, SLMC will provide the necessary medical care and assistance to city residents with P7 million to be allocated from 2005 to 2007 for those qualified under free medical program.
