Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian led the inauguration yesterday of some 48 classrooms in several public high schools.
The schools included the Valenzuela City Science High School, Mapulang Lupa National High School and the Valenzuela City National High School-Bignay Annex.
The classrooms were among the 100 new classrooms completed by the city government in the first year of Gatchalians administration. The project was funded by the special education fund of the citys school board.
"With the construction of these new classrooms, we reiterate our commitment to providing our children with a better environment most conductive to learning. Also, I would like to assure the people of Valenzuela that your city government will go on supporting all initiatives by our competent and dedicated team of educators toward the continued improvement of the citys public education system," Gatchalian said.
In a related development, the city government also launched the citys Code of Discipline dubbed "The Perfect 10 Movement" in an education summit last week.
The code, a project of the city government in tandem with the DepEd-Valenzuela, is a collection of values that best characterize the disciplined citizen of Valenzuela.
"The movements main thrust is to reaffirm the traditional values that appeared to have been forgotten in todays society, in the hearts and minds of every Valenzuelaño, particularly the young and cause the realization of a truly progressive Valenzuela City," Gatchalian said.
