1 dead, 8 injured in Manila road mishap

-
A truck driver is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries when his 10-wheeler truck allegedly slammed into another vehicle that led to the death of a 24-year-old man last Saturday in Manila.

SPO2 Mario Jorge, of the Western District Traffic Enforcement Office (WDTEO), said they are preparing to file the appropriate charges against Joseph Cabilitasan, of 176-C Cordero Street, Grace Park, Caloocan City.

The fatality was identified as Bernard Marcelino, of 268 Rodriguez Street, Balut, Tondo.

SPO2 Jorge said the driver of the white Isuzu Elf pick-up truck, with license plate XHF-453, identified as Roderick Gregorio, 28, and passenger Willy Malate were in critical condition.

The six other occupants of the Isuzu who were injured were Alexander Amador, 24; Dino delos Santos; Joel Taroy, 26; Eusebio Navarro, 51; Andres Nelso, 40; and Steve Prudenciado, 21. They were all brought to the Tondo Medical Center for treatment.

SPO2 Jorge said the victims were employees of the Harbor Center Port Terminal who were headed home after work. The Isuzu Elf was the company’s service vehicle. – Evelyn Macairan
