Payroll robbers take off with P100 in Malabon

- Jerry Botial -
Three unidentified armed men on board a motorcycle with no license plates robbed the cashier of a candy factory, but only after their victim had deposited the firm’s payroll money at bank in Malabon City the other day.

The loot, which will have to be divided three ways, was P100 in coins.

Police said victim Lorna Leo of the accounting department of New Flavor House Inc. on Duhat street, Potrero, Malabon City and company driver Ruben Antonio, 49, although shaken and traumatized by the incident, were safe and unharmed.

Records showed the incident occurred just after Leo deposited an undetermined amount intended for the weekend payroll of the firm’s employees at a Metrobank branch on Rizal Avenue Extension on 9th Avenue in Caloocan City.

Leo was traveling on board the company’s blue Nissan Terrano driven by Antonio along P. Bautista Extension in Potrero when the suspects struck.

Riding on a red motorcycle, the suspects blocked the victims’ path. Two of them alighted.

At gunpoint, one ordered Antonio to open his window while the other stood by the front passenger seat.

When Antonio hesitated, the suspect on Leo’s side fired once, shouting, "give us the money or we will shoot you!"

Fearing for her life, Leo surrendered her bag which contained her cell phone, an ATM card and several coins amounting to about P100.

The suspect grabbed the bag and with his cohorts drove off on their getaway bike thinking they made off with a huge loot.

Witnesses told police the suspects sped away toward Bautista street in Caloocan City.
