Belmonte prods 38 barangays to prepare for calamities

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has directed barangay executives of the citys 38 flood-prone barangays to come up with their respective early warning systems and disaster preparedness programs to prevent the loss of lives and damage to properties during flooding and other calamities brought about by typhoons.
Areas the city government have identified as flood-prone are Barangays Paraiso, Mariblo, Damayan, Del Monte, Masambong, Talayan, Sto. Domingo and Sta. Cruz, in District I; Payatas, Fairview, Kaligayahan, San Agustin, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, Gulod, Capri, Balumbato, Baesa, Unang Sigaw, Apolonio Samson, Tandang Sora, Pasong Tamo and Culiat, in District II; East Kamias, San Roque, Mangga, Bagumbayan, Tagumpay, E. Rodriguez and Socorro, in District III; Roxas, Obrero, Kamuning, Tatalon, Damayan Lagi, Kalusugan, Old Capitol Site and San Vicente, in District IV.
Belmonte has also directed department of public order and safety chief Manuel Sabalza to closely coordinate with these barangays to ensure that they effectively carry their respective disaster preparedness programs.
The city government, on orders of Mayor Belmonte, has already put in place a disaster preparedness program that calls for the formulation of responsive and effective actions in preparing people before, during and after a disaster.
Under the pre-crisis phase, the city activates its disaster action teams, coordination and linkages with the different public and private sectors in Quezon City.
